Your family must reside within the Brockport Central School District and your child’s birthday must be between December 2^nd , 2022 and December 1^st , 2023. 

There are a limited number of openings provided for outside agencies that qualify under 

the NYS Grant. The location information will be listed on the Preference Letter that will be included with the registration packet mailed in January 2027. 

The UPK program is required to be five days a week. Our program is a full-day, 5 ¾ hours per day.  

Our outside agency locations offer either full-day or half-day options, depending on the location. These locations will determine their own schedule.

The focus of the curriculum will be literacy, based on the NYS Pre-School Standards, but there will also be math, science and social studies lessons. Physical education, art and music experiences are provided within the UPK classroom.

There are no direct costs to families for the UPK academic program. For students attending the UPK program at Ginther Elementary School, there is no tuition cost. Families are responsible for providing transportation to and from UPK. School supplies are provided at no cost, and breakfast, snack, and lunch are available to students each day. 

For students attending a Community-Based Organization (CBO) UPK program, UPK grant funding is applied toward the cost of tuition. However, families may be responsible for additional tuition charges or fees if the program's tuition exceeds the amount covered by the UPK grant, including any costs associated with extended-day or wraparound care services. 

A lottery is required when there are too many families requesting the same program and/or location.

The application of interest will be sent directly to families that are currently in our student database in November. Please, return the form by December 18th, 2026. If you notify us of interest in the UPK program, you will receive a registration packet in January 2027. Registration packets are due back by February 12^th. Any packets received after this date, will not be included in the event of a lottery.  

We strongly encourage children to be potty trained when they begin UPK, as this helps them participate as independently as possible in the school day.  

If a child is not potty trained, the family and school will work together to develop a potty-training plan. The plan must be consistently followed at home and supported at school to help the child make progress toward independence. Open communication and collaboration between families and staff are important components of this process.
